Latex Foam Mattress

Latex Foam Mattress

A latex foam mattress is either synthetic or natural which refers to how the material of the latex foam mattress is made. Synthetic latex and foam is man made using petrochemicals to form a plastic which is whipped to supply the small air pockets that allow the material to feel bouncy. Natural latex is formed as a product of the rubber tree this is also whipped giving it its bouncy feel. There are pluses to each product and of course cost is key, which leads to the minuses. There is also a sub group of latex foam mattresses that has picked up some steam in the last few years, Organic latex foam mattresses. Organic latex foam mattresses are made from 100% organic materials, it is a strict process by which this label can be displayed. Natural latex foam mattresses are made from all natural materials but this is not an indicator that the materials are not sprayed with chemicals in their natural form. Organic latex foam mattresses are derived from natural materials which have never been exposed to any pesticides or other chemicals.

Synthetic products are cheaper than natural products, but not as eco friendly. The synthetic latex foam mattress is often times described as softer than their natural cousins. Natural latex foam mattresses and Organic latex foam mattresses are derived from the rubber plant and are naturally hypo allergenic and are more expensive. The natural latex foam mattress camp concedes that the synthetic and the synthetic blend models are a bit softer but that is easily remedied by the manufacturers adding vegetable by products to the soup when manufacturing the natural latex foam mattress, which results in a softer material to work with. Latex foam mattresses are also available in synthetic blends, part natural and part synthetic. Typically regardless of what material the latex foam mattress is made from latex foam mattresses like their coil spring counterparts are covered in a layer of material, often cotton but can be of any type or blend of fabric. Latex foam mattresses are sometimes referred to as memory foam mattresses, because they hold their shape, providing superior support compared to the traditional coil spring mattress.

Each product provides orthopedic support, "no turn" wear, provides anti-bacterial properties and you can expect it to last twice as long as a traditional mattress. The latex foam mattress varies widely in price but you can expect to pay anywhere from twice to five times the amount you would pay for a traditional coil mattress. Read the label carefully when purchasing to determine content if allergies are a priority , understanding the content is important, shop around and enjoy a good night sleep on your latex foam mattress.
